Wednesday, November 13, 2024

(ANGOLA) – A man has been found guilty of murder.

Steuben County Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Travis Musser says Tuesday evening, a Steuben County Superior Court jury found 30 year old Yoshua Monday guilty of murder and guilty of the enhancement of using a firearm in the commission of the murder, in the shooting death of 56 year old Bryan Hall of Angola.

Court records show that Monday was living in the same apartment building in the 600 block of East Gilmore Street as Hall. Monday was staying with a couple he had befriended through a Fort Wayne tattoo parlor two years prior, and had been living with them for about a month before the incident occurred.

The shooting took place on October 12, 2023 at 10:45 AM as Monday and one of his roommates, Amber Barile-Perry, were preparing to leave to run an errand. According to court records, Barile-Perry told police she had left their apartment and went to her car. Previously, she told police, she saw Monday with a handgun and told him not to take it outside.

As she waited for Monday to get in the vehicle, Barile-Perry told police she heard three gunshots in rapid succession followed by a fourth. Court records show that Barile-Perry asked Monday what happened and Monday told her that he did what they told him to do.

A sentencing hearing has been scheduled for December 4. Monday could face between 45 and 65 years in prison for the murder and an additional 5 to 20 years based on the use of a firearm in the commission of the murder.
