(ANGOLA) – A man has been found guilty of child molesting related to an incident that happened over two years ago.
On Friday afternoon, a Steuben Superior Court jury found 52 year old Brian McKale guilty of child molesting. Testimony from 8 witnesses was heard over the two day trial, and McKale testified on his own behalf, and was the only witness called by the defense.
On December 4, 2022, the Steuben County Sheriff’s Department was contacted by a woman regarding a child molesting complaint. The woman had become aware of a possible incident involving her daughter, who was five years old at the time.
The woman said her daughter had been at her great-grandmother’s house when McKale asked the child to touch him. When officers interviewed the child, she said that McKale asked her to sit on his lap while he was naked and touch him. This happened over a two day period.
McKale eventually came to the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office and was arrested.
McKale is being held in the Steuben County Jail and is set to be sentenced on February 21. He could face between 20 and 50 years in prison.
