(COLDWATER) – Officials say the cause of a fire at a Coldwater apartment complex was from careless smoking.
Coldwater Fire Chief David Schmaltz says his department was called out at 7:30 Sunday morning to one of the rental units at the Country Knoll Apartments at 225 Smith Street. Firefighters contained the blaze to the area by a sliding door and then extinguished it.
No injuries were reported and damage estimates stand at $15,000.
The Coldwater Police Department and Life Care Ambulance were also called to the scene.
