Michigan Lawmakers Working on Vape Education Bill
Thursday, October 30, 2025

(LANSING) - Michigan lawmakers are considering a new bill, Senate Bill 433, that's all about helping parents and schools talk to kids about the dangers of things like tobacco, vaping, and marijuana. Under the plan, starting in the 2026-27 school year, all schools, both public and private, would have to give parents information each year. Studies show more and more teens are vaping marijuana. A University of Michigan study found that a number of young adults are using cannabis or alcohol to help them sleep. Another recent study shows that marijuana vaping is becoming more common among students in eighth, tenth, and twelfth grades. Many groups, including the Michigan Association of School Boards and the Michigan Cannabis Industry Association, are in favor of the bill.
