Five Year Prison Sentence Given To Michigan Man

(UNDATED) – A Michigan man has been given a sentence of five years in prison.

The Department of Justice says that 32 year old Arvil Bryant Jr. of Litchfield was sentenced after he plead guilty to a charge of felon in possession of a firearm.

DOJ officials say Bryant was arrested in May 2024 while he was riding his motorcycle through Fremont, Indiana on a Michigan warrant. Police searched him and his bike and found Bryant was carrying a gun that had been reported stolen. Bryant is a convicted felon and is not allowed to own or carry a firearm.

Officers also found an improvised explosive device attached to the handlebars of the bike. Local and State bomb squads were able to dismantle and secure the device.

Bryant was originally arrested on charges of possession of a stolen handgun, possession of an explosive device; along with possession of marijuana, controlled substances and hypodermic needles.

Following his release from prison, Bryant will have three years of supervised release.
