
(DEKALB COUNTY) – A traffic stop in Northeast Indiana led to the arrest of a Michigan man.
On Tuesday, the Indiana State Police initiated a traffic stop in a 
designated construction zone in DeKalb County, after observing  vehicle operating with headlights and taillights.  Upon further investigation, the Trooper discovered he believed was an illegal substance.  
Preliminary field testing identified the substance as suspected cocaine.  In addition, several items of drug paraphernalia and a handgun were recovered from the vehicle.
The driver, 65 year old Steven Yntema of Saginaw, Michigan was arrested on a felony charge of possession of cocaine with enhancing circumstances; along with misdemeanor counts of possession of paraphernalia and operating while intoxicated.
The Indiana State Police remain committed to maintaining a strong, proactive presence on Indiana roadways.  Through purposeful patrols and diligent enforcement efforts, we will influence driving behavior and reduce criminal activity.
