(ELKHART) – Authorities are saying fog may have contributed to two multiple vehicle accidents on the Elkhart County bypass.
The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office was called out at 10:45 PM Thursday to the bypass just west of U.S. 33 for what is being called an eight vehicle incident. Deputies say they are not sure how many people were injured, but all of the injuries were minor.
Then at 11:45 PM deputies were sent to another multiple vehicle crash, this time east of U.S. 33. Deputies say in this incident, six vehicles were involved and again, only minor injuries were reported.
First responders from Nappanee and Wakarusa were called to assist at the scene.
Dense fog was being reported in the area at the time of these two accidents, which remain under investigation.
