(DEKALB COUNTY) – A motorcyclist was injured in an accident Thursday night.
The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office says 20 year old Whitney Tilley of Huntertown was driving her motorcycle west in the 5900 block of State Road 205 at 8:43 PM when a deer entered the road from the north side. Tilley was unable to avoid the animal and struck it.
Tilley was thrown off of her motorcycle, which continued on for 600 feet before going off the south side of the road and crashing into a cornfield.
Tilley was taken to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne to be treated for head, wrist and back pain. She is listed in stable condition. The motorcycle is a total loss.
Speed is believed to be a factor in the accident. Assisting deputies were the Garrett Police Department, the LaOtto Fire Department and the Parkview EMS.
