ANGOLA - An insanity plea was dismissed for an Angola man accused of murder.
A quick pre-trial conference took place on the afternoon of Monday, April 8 for the 29-year-old Joshua Monday.
Monday is facing charges for the murder of Bryan Hall, 56 of Angola.
On October 12, 2024 Monday allegedly shot Hall multiple times inside of Hall's apartment building in the 600 block of Gilmore Street.
Monday was caught by an off-duty sheriff deputy after after breaking into a nearby business.
Court records state Monday allegedly said he did not recall the shooting.
Monday's attorney Gregory Ridenour filed a motion to have him, "evaluated for competency, and also filed Notice of Intent to argue the affirmative defense of Insanity," said Steuben County Chief Deputy Prosecutor Travis Musser.
The court ordered Monday to be examined by three mental health experts.
Based on the results of those examinations, Monday was found to be competent to stand trial.
Ridenour withdrew his insanity defense.
A final pre-trial conference is schedules for May 14 and the jury trial is scheduled for June 26-28.
