INDIANAPOLIS — Unemployment rates across much of northeast Indiana saw improvement in August after a couple of months of increases.
Several area counties were among the lowest in the state. After leading the state last month, Steuben County rolled in at 2.1%, which was tied for the second lowest rate in the state with Adams, Hamilton, and Wells counties.
LaGrange County was at 2.3%, which was tied for the fourth lowest rate in the state.
DeKalb County was at 2.5%, while Noble County at 3.0%.
According to Northeast Indiana Works, there were 145,304 online job postings in early September. Northeast Indiana alone had 16,772 online job postings, second only to the Indianapolis area.
Local numbers indicate that employers are still having a difficult finding employees.
