Power of Pollinators Workshop
Wednesday, June 4, 2025

The Soil Guardians of DeKalb-Steuben Working Group invites everyone to attend the “Power of Pollinators” workshop on June 4th from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, at Doc Colman Landing at the intersection of County Road 36 and 35 in Auburn, Indiana.

Whether you are a gardener, nature lover, or just curious about the buzz, there is something for everyone. Pollinators play a vital role in the reproduction of 75% of flowering plants, including many crops that humans rely on for food. Without pollinators, global food production would face serious challenges, and ecosystems would struggle to thrive. Protecting pollinator habitats is essential to their survival, and ours, as habitat loss, pesticide use, and changing weather patterns continue to threaten their populations. By preserving and restoring native plant habitats, we support pollinator health and maintain the resilience and biodiversity of our natural environments.

The “Power of Pollinators” workshop will feature two speakers - Ryan Owen, Wildlife Biologist with the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), and Kate Sanders, Resource Specialist with the Indiana State Department of Agriculture (ISDA). Speakers will share insights on pollinator species and habitats, offer tips for successful native plantings, and provide attendees with the opportunity to participate in a Q&A session with the experts! Refreshments will be provided, and attendees will have the chance to win door prizes during the event.

Registration is required for the FREE workshop, contact jknudson@co.dekalb.in.us. June 2, 2025, is the deadline to register and cancel for this event.
