ANGOLA - Trine University softball Head Coach Don Danklefsen has recorded the 600th win in his career.
Danklefsen becomes the 48th coach in NCAA Division III history to reach the milestone and is one of 20 active coaches with 600 or more wins.
The past year has been a special on for the coach, as he led the Thunder to the first NCAA team championship in university history during the 2023 campaign, in just the second trip to the final series by the program.
This year Trine opened the season as the number one team in the country according to National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) national poll. They have retained that ranking into the regular season thus far. The Thunder are 12-1 at the conclusion of the spring break trip. They have secured wins over two nationally ranked teams and multiple teams that competed in the 2023 tournament.
The Thunder will next take the field when they travel to the Pioneer Classic in Elizabethtown, Ky. this upcoming weekend, beginning on Saturday, March 16. On day one they will face off with the hosts of the event from Transylvania University and with Wartburg College.
