American History Fest

The community is invited to attend the American History Fest, a three-day living history event that brings the past to life through interactive demonstrations, reenactments, and educational activities.

Dates & Times:
Friday, September 26, 2025 – Education Day (8:30 AM – 5:00 PM)
Saturday, September 27, 2025 – (8:30 AM – 5:00 PM, with a Period Dance at 6:00 PM at Selman Pavilion)
Sunday, September 28, 2025 – (9:00 AM – 2:00 PM)

Location: Commons Park - Selman Timber Frame

Visitors will have the chance to meet historical figures such as President Abraham Lincoln, Frederick Douglass, and Admiral Farragut, while exploring Union and Confederate camps, artillery demonstrations, and World War I exhibits. Activities include butter making, writing with a quill pen, Civil War medicine, flags of our country, and displays of a 1941 1½-ton military truck.

Special presentations by author Eddie Price will cover Ohio River Heritage, Remember the River Raisian, Lincoln’s Brown Water Navy, and What I Saw at Cane Ridge. The Doughnut Lassie WWI program and the American Legion “Be The One” Suicide Prevention Mission will also be featured.

On Saturday evening, the public is welcome to join a Period Dance beginning at 6:00 PM at Selman Pavilion, with lessons provided.

This family-friendly event offers a rare opportunity to step into the pages of history, honor America’s past, and learn valuable lessons for the future.
