(TOPEKA) - Funeral arrangements have been announced for an 18-year-old Lakeland High School student killed Thursday evening in a crash near Topeka.
The LaGrange County Sheriff's Office says Kaden Wiese of Wolcottville lost control of a pickup truck around 7 p.m. on County Road 700 South. The truck left the road and struck a fence.
Wiese died from his injuries. An 18-year-old female passenger was not hurt.
Deputies say neither person was wearing a seat belt and speed is believed to have contributed to the crash.
Wiese was preparing to begin his senior year at Lakeland High School. He also studied welding at the Impact Institute in Kendallville and participated in football and wrestling.
Visitation will be Monday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and Tuesday from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home in Wolcottville.
Funeral services will follow Tuesday at 3 p.m.
