(ANGOLA) - The 2027 Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship application is now available in Steuben County through the Steuben County Community Foundation.

One Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship will be awarded in Steuben County. Statewide, the program will provide 147 scholarships.

The scholarship covers otherwise unreimbursed full tuition and required fees for four years of full-time undergraduate study toward a baccalaureate degree at an eligible Indiana public or private nonprofit college or university. It also includes a special allocation of up to $900 per year for required books and required equipment.

The program is open to Indiana residents who graduate from an accredited Indiana high school by 2027, receive their diploma no later than June 30, 2027, and plan to pursue a full-time baccalaureate course of study at an eligible Indiana college or university.

Students must also meet local criteria through the Steuben County Community Foundation.

Applications must be completed and submitted by 11:59 p.m. Friday, August 21.

Applications will be evaluated on several factors, including academic performance, after-school activities, community service, work experience, financial need, essay, presentation and interview.

Six finalists will be nominated by the Steuben County Community Foundation. Their names will then be submitted to Independent Colleges of Indiana for final selection. Scholarship recipients will be notified in December.

Steuben County Community Foundation Vice President of Programs Lisa Biers says the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship is one of the most impactful opportunities the foundation can offer to a local student. She says it recognizes academic excellence, leadership and a commitment to service.

The Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program was created for the 1997-98 school year. More than 5,400 Indiana students have received Lilly Endowment Community Scholarships since the program began.

This is the 30th year the Steuben County Community Foundation has offered the program locally.
