(ANGOLA) - The Angola High School gymnastics team has captured its first regional championship in program history.
The Hornets, coached by Misti Evans, scored 112.150 points to win the regional title at Huntington North High School. Carroll finished second with 111.975 points, followed by Homestead with 111.925.
All three teams will advance to the state finals this Saturday at Ball State University.
Angola also placed first as a team in both the vault and uneven bars during the meet. Bailey Lanoue won the vault competition, while teammate Madilyn Bussard finished fourth. The pair also placed first and fourth in the uneven bars.
The regional title adds to a strong run for the program, which has now won a sectional championship in seven of the past eight seasons, including the last six in a row.
