(MONROE-GIBSON COUNTIES) - An 89-mile police pursuit that reached speeds above 100 mph ended Tuesday morning when troopers forced a pickup truck off Interstate 69, leading to the arrest of two Evansville residents on felony charges, Indiana State Police said.

The chase began about 9:49 a.m. EST when a state trooper attempted to stop a blue 2022 Chevrolet Silverado traveling 83 mph in a 65-mph zone near the 117-mile marker in Monroe County, police said. The driver refused to pull over and continued southbound, accelerating to more than 100 mph.

During the pursuit, troopers reported seeing the driver and passenger throw an unknown substance from the vehicle multiple times.

Officers from the Indiana State Police and the Gibson County Sheriff's Office deployed stop sticks near the 39-mile marker, puncturing at least two tires on the truck. Despite the damage, the driver continued south at a reduced speed until a trooper executed a Precision Immobilization Technique, or PIT maneuver, near the 25-mile marker. The maneuver forced the pickup into the median, where it came to a stop.

Both occupants were taken into custody without further incident and transported to the Monroe County Jail, police said. Troopers reported finding a small amount of suspected methamphetamine inside the vehicle.

Authorities identified the suspects as Geonovan M. Bailey, 27, and Tiona E. Monie Sullivan, 25, both of Evansville. Each faces preliminary charges of resisting law enforcement, possession of methamphetamine and obstruction of justice, all Level 6 felonies.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.
