(FORT WAYNE) - High school seniors planning careers in animal-related fields can now apply for the Fort Wayne Zoo's Lawrence A. Ackerman Scholarship.
The one-time $3,000 award supports college-bound students who demonstrate financial need, academic achievement, strong character and a commitment to animal care and conservation. The scholarship was established in 1992 by the Ackerman family.
Students from 11 northeast Indiana counties, including Allen, DeKalb, Noble and Steuben, are eligible to apply.
