(ANGOLA) -The City of Angola has announced their fire hydrant flushing schedule for this Fall.
Angola Water Superintendent Tom Selman says the Water Department will be performing routine, semi-annual flushing and maintenance of their fire hydrants, starting Monday, September 9 and going through Friday, September 20.
Crews will begin in the Northeast Section, which is North of East Maumee Street and East of North Wayne Street. Flushing will be done there September 9 through September 11.
Next will be the Southeast Section, which is east of South Wayne Street and south of East Maumee Street. Crews will be flushing hydrants there September 11 through September 13.
From there, crews will be flushing hydrants in the Northwest Section, or north of West Maumee Street and West of North Wayne Street from September 16 through September 18.
Finally, the Southwest Section will be done. That is west of South Wayne Street and south of West Maumee Street, and flushing will be done September 18 through September 20.
Selman says good maintenance programs are essential in preserving water quality. If the piping network is not maintained properly, it can cause water quality to deteriorate.
Selman asks that residents refrain from doing laundry during the times that hydrants are being flushed in your area, due to the possible discoloration of water from iron and manganese sediments.
