Ex-Township Clerk, Attorney Headed to Court in Explosive 2020 Election Data Case

(HILLSDALE) - A former Adams Township, Michigan clerk and her attorney are now formally charged in a high-profile criminal case tied to the 2020 General Election. Stephanie Scott and her attorney, Stefanie Junttila, were arraigned Monday in Hillsdale County Circuit Court on felony counts accusing them of giving an unauthorized computer examiner access to protected voter data. Scott faces multiple charges, including using a computer to commit a crime, unauthorized access, conspiracy, and misconduct in office, along with a misdemeanor for disobeying an order from the Secretary of State. Junttila is charged with computer crimes, unauthorized access, and conspiracy. Both have maintained their innocence in the legal fight that began when Michigan's Attorney General filed charges in May 2024. The pair is due back in court for pretrial hearings on December 22nd.
