(AUBURN) - Applications are now open for the 2027 Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship in DeKalb County.

One DeKalb County student will receive the scholarship. The program will award 147 scholarships statewide.

The scholarship covers otherwise unreimbursed full tuition and required fees for four years of full-time undergraduate study at an eligible Indiana public or private nonprofit college or university. Recipients also may receive up to $900 per year for required books and equipment.

Applicants must graduate from an accredited Indiana high school by 2027, receive their diploma by June 30, 2027, plan to pursue a full-time bachelor's degree at an eligible Indiana college or university and meet the Community Foundation DeKalb County's local criteria.

Applications will be evaluated based on academic achievement, SAT or ACT scores, school and community involvement, community service, employment and internship experience, financial need and responses to application questions and essays. Finalists also will be interviewed.

The Community Foundation DeKalb County will nominate three finalists. Independent Colleges of Indiana will make the final selection, and the recipient will be notified in December.

Applications must be submitted by Aug. 31, 2026.

Students can find eligibility requirements and application information at cfdekalb.org/scholarships.

The 2027 recipient will be the 46th Lilly Endowment Community Scholar selected from DeKalb County since the foundation began awarding the scholarship locally in 1998.
