(ANGOLA) - Trine University has welcomed two of its senior engineering students into one of the profession's most respected traditions. During a ceremony Wednesday inside Fawick Hall, the Allen School of Engineering and Computing inducted two soon-to-be graduates into the Order of the Engineer.

Honored in the ring ceremony were:

-- Samuel Whitney, a civil engineering major from Danville, Ohio

-- Taylor Early, a chemical engineering major from Hicksville, Ohio

The Order of the Engineer is a national fellowship that promotes pride, responsibility, and ethical commitment within the engineering field. Inductees receive a stainless-steel ring worn on the working hand's fifth finger, symbolizing their pledge to uphold the standards and dignity of the profession.

The tradition dates back to 1970 in the United States and mirrors a similar Canadian oath rooted in professional ethics. Trine University has held its own ring ceremonies since 1978, marking each new generation of engineers ready to apply their training for the benefit of society.
