Little River Railroad Celebrates Father’s Day & America's 250th Birthday

June 21, 2026 • Coldwater, MI

This year marks a milestone for the Little River Railroad as the historic railroad celebrates 50 years of passenger excursions while also honoring America's 250th birthday celebration.

The railroad first began hauling passengers in 1976 during the nation's Bicentennial celebration. Now, five decades later, Little River Railroad continues the tradition with its 115-year-old steam locomotive still pulling trains throughout the Branch County countryside.

As part of the season-long celebration, the railroad will host its popular Father's Day Special on Sunday, June 21. The annual excursion has become a favorite family tradition and regularly sells out well in advance.

The trip to Quincy and back takes about 1 hour and 45 minutes with a 20-minute layover in Quincy where the kids can play in the playground and Dads and rail enthusiasts can watch the engine switching to the other end of the train for the return trip.

The Little River Railroad station is located at 29 W. Park Ave, Coldwater, MI. The train departs from the Coldwater station at 11:00am and 2:00pm. Boarding begins 30 minutes prior to departure time.

Passengers are welcome to arrive early to explore the on-site museum prior to boarding. Restrooms are available at both the station and on the train, and light snacks are available onboard for cash purchase.

Tickets for the Father's Day Train are $22 for adults and $15 for children ages 3 to 12, with fathers riding free when accompanied by a paying passenger. Children under the age of 3 who ride on a lap may ride free of charge.

Advance ticket purchases are strongly recommended, as these popular excursions often sell out. Limited walk-in tickets may be available starting at 9:00am on Father's Day. Tickets and additional information are available at www.littleriverrailroad.com

Celebrate Father's Day with the sights, sounds and memories of steam railroading aboard one of Michigan's most treasured historic attractions!
