(INDIANAPOLIS) - An Auburn native is gaining attention in the hockey world after becoming the first woman to call games for the Indy Fuel.

Eva Hallman, a soon-to-be graduate of Butler University, serves as a color commentator and social media manager for the team. She has also stepped into a play-by-play role, becoming both the first and youngest woman to do so for the Fuel.

Hallman says her connection to hockey started early, growing up around Fort Wayne Komets games, and has continued into a career built on broadcasting and media work.

Alongside her role with the Fuel, Hallman has balanced a full academic schedule with multiple jobs while pursuing a double major in journalism and strategic communications.

Her work comes as part of a broader shift within the organization, where team officials say there has been a push to expand opportunities for women in hockey, both on and off the ice.

Hallman says seeing young girls take interest in broadcasting has been one of the most meaningful parts of her experience.

WANE-TV has the full story, including Hallman's path into broadcasting and her role with the Indy Fuel, on its website.
