(BEREA) - Holiday travel along the Ohio Turnpike is about to get more difficult. The Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission has issued a high-wind travel ban for all high-profile vehicles starting 8 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, and lasting through 11:59 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 27.

The restriction covers the entire 241-mile toll road as strong winds, rain, and snow are expected to sweep across northern Ohio during one of the busiest travel periods of the year. The ban applies to vehicles taller than 7 feet, 6 inches, including campers, high-profile trailers, empty 53-foot commercial trailers, double- and triple-trailer combinations, mobile homes, and oversized buses. Smaller vehicles -- including passenger cars, pickups, motor homes, low-profile trailers, and commercial trucks with loaded single trailers -- are still allowed to travel. Turnpike officials say the ban is designed to reduce crash risks during the storm and will be adjusted as weather conditions change.
