(ALLEN COUNTY) - Google contractors have been denied a zoning request for a temporary construction office site in Allen County, after the Board of Zoning Appeals voted 3-1 against the proposal Tuesday, according to WANE TV.
The request covered nearly 39 acres and would have allowed a temporary staging site for data center construction offices, fencing and landscaping tied to the company's ongoing Fort Wayne-area data center work.
Contractors told the board the separate site was needed to help manage construction logistics.
Public opposition at the meeting was led by Allen County Commissioner Ron Turpin, who said he continues to hear regular complaints about the applicant and the broader data center project.
Turpin urged the board to reject the request, saying he believed the expansion into Allen County would be injurious to the public good.
The board ultimately agreed, voting to deny the temporary office plan.
