(ANGOLA) - Mayor Dave Martin is encouraging residents to look ahead to a busy spring season filled with parks events, tree giveaways, cleanup efforts and storm preparedness across the city.

In his monthly community letter, Martin said the Park Department has spent the winter repairing equipment and preparing for spring programming.

The season begins with Angola's annual Easter Egg Hunt on April 4 at 11 a.m. at Commons Hall, featuring face painting, egg decorating, games, prizes and refreshments.

Other upcoming events include the Young Child Family Fair on April 11, the city's tree giveaway beginning April 23, and the Adopt-A-Tree Festival on April 25 at the Selman Timber Frame.

Martin also highlighted Angola's 37-year recognition as a Tree City USA, encouraging residents to take part in the tree giveaway to help the city continue that tradition.

The city will mark Earth Day on April 22 with a Community Clean-Up Day, meeting at Caleo Café at 9 a.m.

The mayor also used the letter to remind residents to review severe weather safety plans as spring storm season begins, urging families to know their safe shelter locations and to take emergency sirens seriously.
