(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - Stellantis is recalling close to 113,000 Jeep plug-in hybrid vehicles due to a potential engine contamination issue.

The recall applies to select 2024 and 2025 Wrangler 4xe models, as well as 2023-2025 Grand Cherokee 4xe vehicles. The automaker says sand from the engine casting process may enter the engines, potentially causing damage. In rare cases, the contamination could spark a vehicle fire.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration urges drivers to watch for warning signs such as engine knocking or the malfunction indicator lamp turning on.

Owners of affected vehicles should contact their Jeep dealer to schedule an inspection and necessary repairs.
