(ANGOLA) - Women who love to sing are invited to raise their voices and join a local chorus that blends music, friendship and fun.

The A Cappella Magic Chorus, based in Angola, is welcoming new members from Steuben County and surrounding communities. No formal music training is required -- just a love of singing and a willingness to be part of a supportive, upbeat group.

The women's chorus rehearses Monday nights at 6 p.m. at Fairview Missionary Church in Angola. While rehearsals are held in a church building, the group is not affiliated with any religious organization.

A Cappella Magic Chorus is a proud member of Sweet Adelines International, a global organization dedicated to vocal music in the barbershop four-part harmony style. Performances are entirely a cappella, with no instrumental accompaniment.

The chorus is directed by Betsy Fowler, a vocal music teacher at Fremont High School, and includes singers ages 16 and up from Angola, Coldwater, Fort Wayne and communities throughout the region.

Organizers say the group offers more than just music.

"Come for the music, stay for the friendship," members say, describing the chorus as welcoming, encouraging and a great fit for anyone looking to try something new.
