Kempf Steps Down as DeKalb’s Football Coach

WATERLOO - Pete Kempf is stepping down as Head Coach of the DeKalb Baron Football program, citing “family needs”, which he wants to make his “primary focus”.

With six seasons under his belt at DeKalb, Kempf just came off his most successful season going 8-3 in 2019.

Kempf is a teacher for the district, and plans to remain at the school in his day position.

Kempf’s 8 wins in 2019 is the most for DeKalb since 2002. Kempf was 27-33 in six years as the DeKalb football coach.
