Michigan Automotive Icon Roger Penske Buys Indianapolis Motor Speedway

In news that shocked the automotive and auto racing world on Monday morning, it was announced that Michigan native and automotive giant Roger Penske has purchased Indianapolis Motor Speedway from Hulman & Company.

Tony George cited that the sale of the speedway is bittersweat, but exciting in the same regard.

Roger Penske spoke his love for the speedway came the first time he visited the track in 1951 and that as the speedway's new owner, he has "big shoes to fill" in those that have owned and operated the track before.

Penske has a long history at the famous real-estate in Northwest Indianapolis, capturing the Indianapolis 500-Mile Race an unprecedented 14 times including most recently in 2019 with French driver, Simon Pageneud as well as the Brickyard 400 with fellow Michigan native, Brad Keselowski in 2018.

The sale price of the track was not disclosed.
