Trine Men’s Soccer Defeated By Kalamazoo
Wednesday, October 16, 2019

The Trine University men's soccer team was edged by Kalamazoo (Mich.) College, 1-0, in a defensive battle in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association matchup in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Kalamazoo (7-2-2, 1-1-1 MIAA) outshot Trine (4-7, 0-3 MIAA), 9-1, in the first half and found the back of the net at the 19:31 minute mark to take a 1-0 lead. But that would be the only scoring the remainder of the period as the Hornets maintained their one-goal margin at the intermission.

In the second half, KZOO had a 10-5 shot margin, but was held scoreless for the remaining 45 minutes of the frame. Trine mustered five shots that included a shot by senior Nooh Aljabaly (Coldwater, Mich./Coldwater) during the 62nd minute that hit the crossbar. The Thunder tallied one more shot on goal following the near miss by Aljabaly, but the attempt was stopped by the KZOO netminder as the Hornets hung on for the 1-0 victory.

In net for Trine, freshman Austin Henlsey (Noblesville, Ind./Noblesville) played all 90 minutes and made five saves on six shots faced.

Trine will host Olivet (Mich.) College on Saturday, Oct. 19 in a MIAA game at Weaver Field. The two teams are set to square off at 2 p.m.
