An Indiana State Trooper and the Albion Town Marshal rescued a six year old girl from a grain hopper near Skinner Lake Wednesday afternoon.
The Noble County Sheriff Department received a 911 call at 5:17 p-m of a six year old female trapped in a grain hopper. Albion Town Marshal Scott Cole and Indiana State Police Trooper Richard Williams responded to the 2500 east block of State Road 8 near Skinner Lake.
They could see the child’s legs hanging from the bottom of the feeder wagon. After attempting to push the small child back up with no luck, Williams and Cole climbed into the feeder wagon. Greg Gorsuch from the Albion Fire Department arrived a few moments later and found a large wood board to assist Williams and Cole.
Once Williams and Cole were able to remove the corn from around the child’s face, Cole placed the board near her to prevent more corn from falling back on her, while Williams continued to dig her out.
After several minutes of digging Cole and Williams were able to pull the child to safety. The girl was transported to Parkview Noble Hospital and was later released.
