A man who grew up in rural Stroh, IN with deep roots in the FFA program at the state and national level has landed a position within the Trump Administration.

President Donald J. Trump announced this week Scott Stump of Colorado, to be Assistant Secretary for Career, Technical, and Adult Education at the Department of Education.

Scott Stump, originally from Stroh, and a graduate from Prairie Heights, will serve as an Assistant Undersecretary in the Department of Education (his official title is Assistant Secretary for Career, Technical, and Adult Education at the Department of Education).

Stump's father, the late Ned Stump, was a long time ag teacher and FFA adviser at Prairie Heights. Through his upbringing in FFA Scott Stump went on to serve as Indiana State FFA President after graduating from Prairie Heights. He later received his Bachelors degree from Purdue University and later worked professionally for the National FFA organization.

Prior to his new position with the Trump administration, Stump worked as the Chief Operating Officer for Vivayic, Inc., a learning solutions company based in Lincoln, Nebraska. Vivayic has been a company working as a government contractor since the beginning of the Trump administration.

Previously, Stump served as the Assistant Provost for Career and Technical Education with the Colorado Community College System. He also served as the Colorado State FFA advisor while working under the Colorado Community College System.

In 2014, Mr. Stump served as President of the National Association of State Directors of Career Technical Education consortium, now called Advance CTE. Mr. Stump holds a B.S. in Agricultural Education from Purdue University.

Much of Stump's family, including his mother Nancy, still reside in the rural community of Stroh, IN in LaGrange County.
