Good Samaritan Saves a Life with CPR
Thursday, March 21, 2019

Quick action from a by-stander who knew how to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation, commonly known as CPR, is being credited for saving a mans life at an Ashley restaurant.

According to the Ashley-Hudson Police Department, they were called to Deano's Diner on 202 W State Street Wednesday morning just before the noon hour. It was reported that there was an unresponsive 61 year old male with no pulse at the restaurant.

First officers on the scene found a Good Samaritan already performing CPR on the male. Officers took over giving CPR until the Ashley Fire Rescue Department arrived.

The fire department used an automated external defibrillator (AED) and delivered one shock to the male. As the paramedics arrived on scene, the male began breathing and regained consciousness.

Officials with the Ashley-Hudson Police Department said the help of the Good Samaritan and teamwork of the police and fire departments saved the victims life. They encourage more people to learn CPR and other life saving techniques.
