Ohio Medical Review Board Issues Arise
Wednesday, February 19, 2020

A review of whether the Ohio State Medical Board properly closed approximately 2,000 complaints alleging sexual misconduct or impropriety by doctors, is moving much more slowly than originally anticipated.

It has been delayed by difficulties in lining up qualified reviewers who are willing to commit substantial time to the review. The review was launched back in September of 2019, after the board learned evidence of misconduct that was ignored in a 1996 investigation involving Richard Strauss, the late Ohio State team doctor who is now accused of abusing young men throughout his two decades at the university.
