Former Northwest Ohio Police Officer Critically Injured
Monday, December 16, 2019

A former Northwest Ohio Police Officer has been critically injured in the line of duty at his new post.

Samuel Yoh, a veteran of the Bryan Police Department, who now works for the Ozark Police Department in Alabama, was critically injured in a shootout. The incident took place in the late evening hours of Thursday, December 12th.

According to the Ozark Police Department, the shooting happened around 9:50 p.m. Reports indicate that while officers were responding to a call in the 100 block of Briar Hill Court, Yoh saw a man walking in the roadway holding a rifle. When Yoh got out of his patrol vehicle the man immediately began shooting at him.

Yoh and his vehicle were hit multiple times. Ozark police say Yoh’s backup returned fire and killed the suspect.

Yoh was last said to be in critical condition at Southeast Health in Dothan Friday morning by the Ozark Police Department.

Yoh joined the Ozark Police Department in March 2019. He and his wife are expecting the birth of their daughter in February 2020.

In a Facebook post, The City of Bryan Police Department requested that area citizens lift their “Brother in Blue and his family up in prayers”. A GoFundMe page has now been set up for Yoh, which is posted on our stations news page and Facebook.
