Indiana State Police Fort Wayne Regional Dispatch Center Accepting Applications

The Indiana State Police is accepting applications for a Regional Dispatcher at the Fort Wayne Post to staff the Regional Dispatch Center which operates out of that facility.

ISP Dispatchers are required to receive, record, disseminate and accurately dispatch information to police personnel, other law enforcement agencies and other support services, and therefore the successful applicant must have the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and also have the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or possess an equivalent GED. Two years of public safety communications experience is preferred, but not required. Having an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification is preferred, but also not required. Must become certified, or show proof of certification, in CPR and Emergency Medical Dispatch.

Applicants must be able to remain seated in a confined area for extended periods of time and have the ability to maintain concentration on numerous tasks in a busy and noisy environment. Must remain calm in emergency situations.

The ISP Regional Dispatch Centers run on a continuous 24 hours per day 7 days per week cycle, so applicants must be able to work rotating or multiple shifts, to include weekends and/or holidays.

Starting pay for this position is $30,082 per year.
