The Indiana Supreme Court suspended three judges involved in a drunken altercation outside an Indianapolis White Castle restaurant that resulted with two of them being shot.
Clark Circuit Court 1 Judge Andrew Adams was suspended 60 days without pay.
Clark Circuit Court 2 Judge Bradley Jacobs and Crawford Circuit Court Judge Sabrina Bell were suspended 30 days without pay.
The Justices found the three engaged in judicial misconduct by appearing in public in an intoxicated state and behaving in an injudicious manner and by becoming involved in a verbal altercation. They also found that Judge Adams and Judge Jacobs engaged in judicial misconduct by becoming involved in a physical altercation for which Judge Adams was criminally charged and convicted. The Justices said their actions were not merely embarrassing on a personal level; they discredited the entire Indiana judiciary.
The three were in Indianapolis April 30th for a judicial conference the next day. They went out for an evening of socializing and drinking which led to an attempt to enter a strip bar that was closed. So they walked to the nearby White Castle. Two men driving by shouted something at the group, to which Judge Bell responded by raising her middle finger. The men pulled in and a verbal argument turned physical which ended when Brandon Kaiser pulled a gun and shot both male judges.
