On Wednesday afternoon, at around 2:18 P.M. LaGrange County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a single car crash on County Road North 900 West In LaGrange County near County Road 250 North.
Joseph Mast of Shipshewana was traveling southbound on County Road 900 West toward County Road 250 North on his tractor hauling a large hay bale. It was there that Esther L. Slabaugh was walking her bike southbound on County Road 900 West in that same direction.
Mast stated, he did not see Slabaugh and struck her from behind. She stated that she was walking her bike up a hill on County Road 900 West when she was stuck from behind by Mast on his tractor.
Slabaugh had complaints of pain to her legs, pelvis area, lower back and to her abdomen and was later flown to Parkview Regional Hospital in FortWayne for treatment for injuries she sustained as a result of this crash.
Mast, the driver was not injured as the incident remains under investigation.
