HOWARD TOWNSHIP – A motorcycle crash injured the driver of the vehicle.
The Cass County Sheriff's Department says 62 year old Frederick Wogatzke of Niles was driving his motorcycle south on Anderson Road near M-60 in Howard Township just before 8:30 PM Thursday. Investigators say Wogatzke lost control of his motorcycle in a curve and went off the roadway, striking a brick mailbox.
Wogatzke was unconscious when first responders arrived. He was flown to South Bend Memorial Hospital to be treated for his injuries. It doesn't appear that he was wearing a helmet.
Assisting deputies were the Howard Township Fire Department and the SMCAS Ambulance. The crash is still under investigation.
