ONTWA TOWNSHIP – Authorities in Cass County say a 15 year old girl was shot and killed over the weekend.

The Edwardsburg Police Department says officers were called to a home on Maple Street Sunday just after 1:40 PM. A witness told police the gun was taken from a safe in the house. The 12 year old shooter believed it was not loaded when they pointed it at the 15 year old victim and then pulled the trigger. The girl was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities say the case has been forwarded to the Cass County Prosecutor’s Office for review. If anyone has information regarding this incident, they are asked to call the Edwardsburg Police Department at 269-663-8444.
