WAYNE TOWNSHIP – One person was injured when his motorcycle struck a deer in Cass County's Wayne Township.

The Cass County Sheriff's Office says 41 year old Jeffrey Yant of Kalamazoo was traveling east on Morton Street, west of Glenwood Road when he struck a deer that ran into the roadway. Deputies arrived and found Yant's motorcycle in a ditch, but he was not at the scene. They later found out Yant had been taken by a private vehicle to Borgess Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac to be treated for his injuries. Yant told investigators he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Assisting deputies were the Wayne Township Fire Department and Pride Care Ambulance.
