Monday, May 17, 2021

ELKHART COUNTY – Alcohol was a factor in a two vehicle collision involving a LaGrange man and injuring three people.

The Elkhart County Sheriff's Office says 29 year old Abraham Corona of LaGrange was driving north on State Road 15 and approaching the intersection of U.S. 20 at 9:30 Sunday night. Corona failed to yield the right of way to a westbound vehicle, driven by 30 year old Brandon Kauffman of Elkhart, and the two automobiles collided. Corona and Kauffman were not injured in the incident.

Deputies say Corona's passenger, 40 year old Luis Martinez, received a minor cut to the left side of his head and had left arm pain. He was taken to Goshen Hospital to receive treatment for his injuries. There were two passengers in the Kauffman vehicle. Four year old Annabelle Kauffman was taken to Elkhart General Hospital complaining of head pain. 28 year old Emily Kauffman had abdominal pain and minor pain in the right knee. She was also taken to Elkhart General Hospital.

Corona was given a citation for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
