Fountain City Christian School Boys Basketball Ends Season with Runner-up Trophy

The Fountain City Christian School Flames boys varsity basketball team ended their season beating the Angola Warriors 68-60 and earning the runner-up trophy at the Harlan Hawks Invitational Tournament in Harlan, IN.

After a tough opening game loss to the host Hawks, 63-39, the Flames bounced back with a thrilling win over Angola. Guard Roman Sutton scored 28 points and had 20 rebounds with 7 steals to lead the FCCS Flames to victory. Teammate junior forward Devin Eppelmann had 14 points and 10 rebounds and senior center Ethan Blank, playing in his last game had 6 points and 11 boards. The Flames were 1-1 in the tournament to take the while the host Harlan Hawks won the championship trophy with a 2-0 record in the tournament, beating both the Flames and Warriors.

During the skills competition held between game 2 and 3, Flame senior guard Noah Johnson won both the 3-point shoot-out and free throw competition. In fact, the Flames claimed all the skill trophies with Drew Franklin earning the runner-up in the free throws and Devin Eppelmann claiming runner-up in the 3-point shoot-out. Those same athletes also claimed spots on the All-Tournament Team. The Flames end the 2017-2018 season at 8-17, but were able to claim a tournament championship and two runner-up trophies on the season.
