LANSING, MI - Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced Sunday that all sports in Michigan, other than professional and college, must stop competition for three weeks in an effort to combat the spike in COVID-19 cases in Michigan.
The pause does not mean the end of the high school state playoffs in football, volleyball or swimming. Officials with the Michigan High School Athletic Association told the Detroit Free Press on Sunday that those playoffs are being put on hold and the MHSAA has every intention to finish them at a later date.
