Five members of the Trine University football team have been selected to the 2019 All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Teams for their individual efforts this season.

Senior Simeon Washington (Toledo, Ohio/Central Catholic) was the lone first-team representative for Trine at his linebacker position. Seniors Seth Boggs (Sandusky, Ohio/Perkins) and Noah Routson (Findlay, Ohio/Findlay) were both second-team All-MIAA selections on offense and the duo of senior Mason McFarland (Berrien Springs, Mich./Berrien Springs) and sophomore Damian Bowker (Kendallville, Ind./East Noble) both earned second-team honors on defense.

Washington garners All-Conference honors for the third time in his career with his third straight first-team selection. He led the team in tackles for the third straight year in 2019 with 59 total stops (42 solo and 17 assists). He was also tied for the team lead in tackles for loss with nine and was second in quarterback sacks with five. Washington had one game this season with 10 tackles (vs. Bluffton) and had eight games with five or more stops. In addition, he had one forced fumble and one blocked kick. For his career, Washington has amassed 245 total tackles (124 solo and 121 assists) which puts him in a tie for 10th all-time in Trine program history. He also had 29.5 tackles for sacks, with 12 of those being sacks, one career interception, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and a blocked kick. His 29.5 tackles for loss puts him eighth on the all-time list and his 12 QB sacks is 12th most.

Boggs finished his senior season second on the team in receptions with 22 and led the team in receiving yards with 358 (16.3 yards per reception). He also caught a team-tying high three touchdown passes. Boggs recorded two games with 100 or more receiving yards that included a career-high 121 yard effort against Albion. He also rushed for 160 yards (5.5 yards per rush) to go along with one TD. Boggs was also involved on special teams as a kick returner. He averaged 30.3 yards per return to lead the team in overall kick return yardage at 273. In 42 career games, Boggs caught 46 passes for 719 yards (15.6 yards per catch) with seven TD catches. His 15.6 yards per catch average currently sits as the fifth-best average in program history. On the ground, Boggs ends his career with 479 yards on 69 carries (7.0 yards per rush) and found the endzone three times. As a kick returner, he totaled 477 yards in 19 attempts to average 25.1 yards per return. His return yardage (477) ranks ninth on the program all-time list and his 25.1 average ranks as the sixth best.

Routson earned his second career All-Conference honor after being named first-team All-MIAA last season. Routson was part of an offensive squad that averaged 321.9 yards of total offense per game in 2019, including 188.6 yards on the ground which ranked fifth in the conference. The Trine offense racked up 300 or more yards of offense in five games this past season, including two games of over 400 yards with a season-high 477-yard performance in a win against Finlandia (Mich.) University.

McFarland capped his Trine playing career with his second All-MIAA selection (2018 second-team All-MIAA). In 2019, McFarland helped anchor the defensive line with 26 total tackles (12 solo and 14 assists) that included 4.5 tackles for loss and four sacks. He also had a forced fumble. McFarland had three games of five or more tackles highlighted by a pair of games with six stops. As a unit, the Thunder defense led the MIAA in fewest total yards allowed at 294.3 per game (156.6 passing and 137.7 rushing). Trine's 156.6 passing yards allowed per game ranked as the second lowest and its 137.7 rushing yards per game were fourth fewest.

Bowker earns his first All-MIAA honor to highlight his second season with the program. Bowker finished fourth on the team in tackles with 46 (30 solo and 16 assists) with two tackles for loss and a half sack. He led the team in interceptions with three that included a 70-yard interception return for TD in the team's win against Bluffton as part of a two-interception game against the Beavers. He had one game this season with 10 or more tackles against Alma (Mich.) College where he tallied 11 stops (six solo and five assists). In addition, he recorded four games of five or more tackles.
