Tower International is seeking a tax incentive from the city of Auburn on new investment. Auburn City Officials say the company is asking to phase in property taxes on a $6.5 million investment in robotic assembly cells at its Auburn plant.
Tower’s application says the investment will allow it to add 40 jobs for their Auburn facility. They currently employ 124 people.
The company says the 40 new positions would represent an additional payroll of $1.5 million.
An Auburn city council committee will discuss the application in a meeting Tuesday, January 15th at 5 p.m. in City hall. The special committee will take place prior the full council meeting set for 6 p.m. that same night.
