An area woman is in the hospital following a solo crash Sunday night.
The DeKalb County Sheriff's Department said in a report that Tara Woodard, age 30 of Auburn, was traveling westbound in the 3000 block of County Road 36 when she failed to negotiate a curve.
Reports indicate that Woodard's vehicle went left of center and veered off of the roadway before crashing into a tree.
Emergency crews had to extracted Wooodard from her vehicle as she became pinned in her vehicle after the airbags were deployed. As a result, police say she suffered chest and back injuries, and was flown to an area hospital.
Investigators said Woodard was not wearing a seat-belt at the time of the crash.
Authorities believe that alcohol was a factor in the accident. The crash remains under investigation.
The DeKalb County Sheriff's Department was assisted by the Waterloo Fire Department, Auburn Fire Department, DeKalb EMS, and Parkview Samaritan.
