The first initiates into the Angola City Police Citizens Police Academy will graduate this month. Six people were selected by Chief Stu Hamblen to pilot the in-depth program, aimed at educating the public about the duties of local law enforcement officers.
Hamblen and Officer Jason Justice attended training in April 2017 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, with plans to start an Angola Citizens Police Academy. The next academy will be next year, and interested participants must pass a background check, have no felony convictions and no misdemeanor convictions in the past three years, and be older than 21.
